Is it really Zero cost?

Yes, there is Zero cost to set up and start selling on Merch Van.

You pay a small commission only if you have a sale.

After you register, we set up your store, have merch designed and publish your merch online at zero cost.

You do not have to pre-repurchase merch or get it made up prior to selling it. We use Print on demand services, so merch only gets printed if someone buys it. You do not have to store it, you do not have to manage shipping or fulfillment, you do not have to manage customer service.

There is literally zero cost to start selling merch via us.

What are the commercials and commissions?

There are Zero costs to be a part of and sell on via Merch Van. Merch Van is completely commission run.

  • Print suppliers supply the product and manage the fulfilment.
  • Vendors (sellers or store owners) get a commission on every sale.
  • Merch Van gets a commission on every sale.

Vendor Commission

We set up the products with a minimum margin of 25% for the Vendor. You can raise or lower that price as you wish, by informing us at time of set-up. You can change this pricing any time, by emailing us. Some Vendors decide to remove all margin to give their members cheap merch, others increase their pricing to bolster fundraising and revenue.

Merch Van Commission

Merch Van charges a 10% commission on every sale. This covers the website costs, merch design and customer service.

Can I set my own pricing? Can I change pricing?

Yes, you can price your items however you like.

How is my IP protected

All artwork remains the IP of the Vendor, unless agreed to differently in writing.

Merch Van does not expose high resolution files to the public. Our process creates mock-ups that include Vendor IP which are shown publicly. These mock-ups are low res 72dpi and not the artwork used to create the final product. Vendor artwork is shown on a product, on a website, but it cannot be used in any meaningful way or reproduced at any quality for any other purpose. While these images are public Merch Van accepts no responsibility for what Users do with these low-resolution images.

Upon termination of agreement in writing by the Vendor or Merch Van, all artwork is removed from the Merch Van and Printers website and applications within 5 days and destroyed after 30 days.

How do I get started?

There are two streams for getting strated. You can choose either.

Stream 1 (Simple)

  1. Register as a Vendor here
  2. Build your store (basically fill out a short form and add your logo)
  3. Send us your high res logo – give us an indication of what Merch you are looking for e.g. t-shirts and hoodies
  4. That’s it we do the rest

Stream two – Still simple but more control for you

  1. Same as above but we also email you a design template an a list of available merch, you can choose up to 20 items to launch with (unless we agree differently). You return this list and we design your Merch

For both streams, once merch is designed we send you a link to your store with all your merch on it. You feedback/approve and we go live

What are the terms? Are there any contracts?

There are no contracts for Vendors using Merch Van.

It is understood that when you sign up using the Vendor Registration here you agree to the Terms of Service here.

You can pause, or terminate at any time, by informing us in writing (email).

Upon termination of agreement in writing by the Vendor or Merch Van, all artwork is removed from the Merch Van and Printers website and applications within 5 days and destroyed after 30 days.

Can my customers return or exchange Merch?

Merch Van uses print on demand companies (this is how we can offer you and your customers merch at zero up front cost), all products are unique and produced per order. Returns or exchanges are not supported if you the customer ordered a wrong size, color, or simply doesn’t like the product.

Who manages the customers once they buy and customer service?

This is completely up to you, but the short answer is, we do.

Any communications on or about the products are managed by us. There are links to contact you on your store pages, and you are welcome to answer any of these communications or pass them to us, if they are about the product.

We understand this is a privilege and we treat your customers the same way we treat ours. Like they are the most important people in the world!

What is an Online Marketplace? Is Merch Van an Online Marketplace?

An online marketplace is a website that facilitates online stores for a variety of different businesses or Vendors. The operator of the marketplace does not own any inventory, their business is to present other people’s inventory to a user and facilitate a transaction.

Is Merch Van a Marketplace? Yes, Merch Van acts as a marketplace to allow Sellers or Vendors who comply with Merch Van’s policies to offer and sell goods.

Merch Van is different to traditional marketplaces as you, the Vendor do not supply the inventory, or manage the fulfillment of the product, you supply the IP around your brand and direct your followers to purchase from the Merch Van store (or your own site if you have products embedded).

What / Who is a Vendor?

A Vendor is a brand, band, entity, club, group etc. Basically anyone that sells and has a store via Merch Van.

  • The Vendor offers branded merch to their followers and customers
  • Merch Van manages the website and the product
  • Print Provider prints the merch and manages the fulfilment to the customer
  • The customer or follower buys the product
